Who We Are
The Western Ontario Sports Car Association ('WOSCA') is a group of people, from a wide range of backgrounds, that are interested in cars, autosports and related activities. The club was founded in 1953 and incorporated one year later.
Throughout the year, WOSCA organizes and participates in Solo I events ('one car at a time' timed runs on a race track), Solo II events (parking lot slaloms), race track 'lapping days' and navigational rallies. Several social events are also held at various times. WOSCA members also participate in racing at Delaware Speedway and road racing tracks throughout Ontario and Michigan.
WOSCA is a full member of the national CASC (Canadian Automobile Sports Clubs) organization.
All events are organized under the supervision of experienced WOSCA members and are run under the general competition rules of the Canadian Autosport Clubs (CASC), the Canadian motorsport governing body. The club has an insurance policy, through CASC, that covers all of these events.
WOSCA membership is $35 annually. Anyone can join by sending a cheque and their contact info to the mailing address below.
WOSCA Contact Information

WOSCA Motorsport Activities
Solo I
Solo I events consist of timed laps on a closed race track, with cars being spaced apart so as to avoid the possibility of one catching another. Each car is timed and the winners are determined by comparing lap times to other cars in the same class. Classes here are also based on power, weight, maneuverability and modifications.
| Equipment required: | A car with three-point seat belts (four-point strongly
recommended, and required for events organized by WOSCA). A helmet (loaner helmets may be available from the organizers). A valid driver's license. |
Solo II (slaloms)
Solo II events consist of timed laps through a course marked by pylons in a large parking lot and is the normal entry-level motorsport activity. Each car is classified according to power, weight, maneuverability and modifications that have been made to it. Each class is then assigned a time handicap in order to provide a way to compare driver ability for drivers with cars in different classes. During each run through the course, the cars are timed. The best time for each driver is multiplied by the handicap for the car's class and the result is compared to the other drivers' times. The winner is the driver with the lowest time after handicapping.
| Equipment required: | A car with seat belts. A helmet (loaner helmets are available from the organizers). A valid driver's license. |
Lapping Days
Each year, two 'lapping days' are organized at the Waterford Hills road racing course in Michigan. These days consist of approximately seven hours of time in which drivers can use the track for lapping in a safe, controlled environment. No racing is allowed during this time (ie. no passing is permitted) for safety and insurance reasons.
| Equipment required: | A car with four-point seat belts. A helmet (loaner helmets are available from the organizers). A valid driver's license. |
Navigational rallies are held on public roads, at legal speeds, and involve following instructions that require the driver and navigator to complete the route on a prescribed schedule. Along the route, 'checkpoints' time the cars to ensure that they are on time and on the correct route. The team that comes closest to following the schedule wins the rally.
| Equipment required: | A car with seat belts (no helmet is required). A valid driver's license and car insurance. |
